Well-planned government spending within a country is never a bad thing for an economy and helps dampen the effects of global and local downturns. For example, the UK would have been a lot worse off in the 50's if we hadn't nationalized our electricity grid and spent a lot of government dollars hooking up everyone's homes. And that was by a conservative government. Jim, sounds like you should read some modern economic thought.
